Where the hell is the manual for the world economy?
Our world has gone crazy, it's pure idiocy.

The financial market fear is economic stagnation
We all have to shop, the cure is called consumption

My choice there in the store, it fulfills a function
My demand controls world production

Everything I buy becomes a choice, a responsibility, everything depends on me
My purchases are political, how can that be?

Consumer power is a punishment, a torment
I have not chosen
That people should be poor
Do not blame me!
That natural resources run out -
That's not my decision!
Why should it hang on me?

The whole world became my responsibility now that trade is global
And my conscience demands that I make an active choice

Our happiness is said to depend on economic conditions
That growth became so important, yes, it actually makes me angry

I have not chosen to support a system that is baroque
Yet it is suddenly me who rules, a veritable shock

I have a responsibility not to make the wrong choice
That I have to decide at all is a real spectacle
